Emily receives urgent medical care whilst based in Cyprus
DMWS stepped in and help Emily with language barriers stopping her from getting the treatment she required.
I am home now thankfully, but it really would have been a much more terrifying experience without your wonderful team.

Emily's story:
'I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the ladies who helped support me as a part of your service. I went to Episkopi Medical Centre in Cyprus yesterday morning suffering with persistent chest pain.
I was triaged by the doctor and then sent urgently to the polyclinic in Limassol. Due to language barriers, there was some confusion by hospital staff who had misunderstood my need for medical assessment. They took my blood and then said I could go home and they would email me the result. I rang the medical centre as I wasn’t sure this was right. Being in a foreign country and no visitors being allowed made this even more daunting.
Then I got a very helpful phone call from the DMWS team supporting and reassuring me that I wasn’t on my own and they were available 24 hours a day if I needed them.
I ended up being admitted to hospital. The shock of it all and the possibilities of my diagnosis were terrifying. I just wanted to go home and be with my husband and young children. I received many supportive phone calls from the DMWS team and then a visit today in hospital. I was incredibly emotional and it really helped to know I wasn’t on my own. Knowing if I had any issues I could give them a call and they also spoke Greek. I was mostly crying down the phone yesterday afternoon to be honest.
I am home now thankfully, but it really would have been a much more terrifying experience (and who knows if I would even have been seen!) without your wonderful team.
What a fantastic service!'
