Any donation, no matter how large or small, is greatly appreciated! You can also become a fundraiser and join the challenge!

Whether you run solo, as a group or split the distance with friends, you can complete the entire distance or just part of it! This can be done on the day or tally up your miles over the month and join us to run your last mile on the 9th of September at our family-fun day.

We will host two set routes, one at Raughton Head, Cumbria and one at Redenham Park in Andover. There will be a 5 mile loop – push yourself to complete as many as you can you can up to 80km (50 miles) in 12 hours. You can run closer to home on your own loop if you can’t make these locations, it’s the participation that counts! And a bit of fundraising would really help too!

Go to Just Giving to donate or set up your own Fundraising  under St John and Red Cross Defence Medical Welfare Service page

DMWS provide medical welfare support to the armed forces community, NHS and Police. This compassionate, professional service will tackle non-clinical issues that cause poor physical and mental wellbeing, delay discharge from hospital and issues that could cause unnecessary readmission to hospital.  This includes stress and anxiety, social isolation and loneliness, housing issues or homelessness, financial issues, substance abuse and mental health issues including depression, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, and dementia.

Here’s what some of our Service Users have said about us:

I am very grateful for the support I have had from this service; I don’t know how I would have managed to support my son, who served as a Marine in Afghanistan, without DMWS…(is there more to go here Siobonne?)

“At work we have been so affected by the nursing strike and I felt helpless and needed someone to talk to before I reached breaking point, the DMWS Welfare Officer supported me and let me vent my feelings and gave me coping mechanisms and advice for future times of stress. I don’t know what I’d of done without DMWS’ support today.”

Thank you, I think you’ve just saved my life.” – Veteran
