Defence Medical Welfare Service awarded funding by The BFBS Big Salute. - DMWS
The Defence Medical Service (DMWS) have been awarded funding from The BFBS Big Salute to continue the provision of welfare services to the military community.
We are delighted to have been chosen as one of the select few charities to receive funding from the BFBS Big Salute. The additional funding will help our organisation continue to support those who have served our nation.”
Paul Gaffney, CEO
Each year The BFBS Big Salute raises vital funds for armed forces charities; this is separate to grants awarded under the BFBS Welfare Fund scheme. The campaign invites forces charities to apply for grants to support specific projects for the serving military, families or veterans with every penny raised going to the beneficiary projects.
As one of only five selected charities to receive part of the £40,000 funding available through The Big Salute, DMWS will be able to continue to offer welfare support to 175 Armed Forces Community members across Nottinghamshire experiencing ill health or injury.
Nicky Ness, Director of Broadcasting & Entertainment, BFBS says: “In what has been another very difficult fundraising year for many charities, BFBS is pleased to be able to support these very worthy organisations. It’s wonderful to see how they are planning to spend the money and further support our military community in such a variety of ways.”
The funding will be used to continue the provision of welfare services to veterans throughout Nottingham with focus on supporting veterans by combatting loneliness and social isolation, promoting health and wellbeing, and improve mental health.
